A large art quilt, composed of vintage linen from the old Youghal Carpet factory in East Cork, this is one of four collaborative pieces produced by artists Mary Palmer (quilting) and Anne Kiely (print).
Composed of a number of hand-dyed linen panels, individually printed, then assembled for quilting. It imagines a birds eye view of the marks we make as humans on the land. With printed imagery of details from ordnance survey maps, marks representing ploughed and planted fields, and a human fingerprint.
Other works from this collaborative series are in the permanent collections of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland, Kilkenny, and the Crawford Art Gallery, Cork.
